Je Dessine: Rima

Yes, this girl is a bit wild.

Emma posed for me sitting in Sabrina's armchair.

I did a quick warmup sketch in pen -- then proceeded to sketch it out on a canvas making sure to cover the whole surface with paint. Her face started becoming less and less Emma-like.

Then I removed the armchair and the blue scarf and drew a leopard under her seat.

Then I changed the planters and the sky. And then I embellished her shirt with feathers. Then she started having leopard spots. She started to remind me of "Rima" -- William Henry. Hudson's heroine from Green Mansions.

Oh my. Sabrina wants me to continue changing her. But I'm afraid I've grown too fond of her. What's going to happen next?

Je Dessine: My Office Companion

This painting was the first time that I used small sketches all over the canvas. Also the first time that I removed sketches I didn't like (originally my sleeping kitty was just a cat face).  I just painted right over them and redrew my cat sleeping in the office desk drawer and removed the woman and worked with the paint on the background. It really took a bit of hutzpah for me to do. Sabrina has been encouraging me for a long while to not get stuck on the way things look -- just keep altering and see where it leads me. It certainly freed me up to go exploring!

Daily Journal Page Challenge -- Day 941

Daily Journal Page Challenge...Day 941: Start a Ripple Effect
When I reach for what I desire -- whether through visualization, baby steps, or just self-permission -- I start the process of allowing my dreams to happen. (A little bit of magic dust helps!)

Daily Journal Page Challenge -- Day 940

Daily Journal Page Challenge...Day 940: Your Future Is Yet to Be Written
It seems this is something that I have to remind myself of everyesingle day if not moment when all of life's demands pile up and smother me. Things may look bleak or impossible, but it's not guaranteed that they will continue to be. And there seems to be a beautiful garden just within my reach. Should I sit here within my circular thoughts or open the window and let the breeze entice me to the next place of being?

In My Studio: Table of Books

Table of Altered Books
Took this photo at one of my last workshops -- most of these altered books I created over the past few years. The Pink Ballerina spread a la Degas (righthand back corner) is a French children's book that I am currently altering. I've recently been getting the itch to start some new books -- actually I have 4 or 5 that come to mind, seem waiting for that jumping off point. But waiting, at least "extended" waiting never gets me anywhere. I'll report back.

Daily Journal Page Challenge -- Day 934

Daily Journal Page Challenge...Day 934: The Path of Integration
Feeling off-balance is part of integration. Until the mind and body have acclimated to a new situation, feeling, emotion everything may seem a little off-kilter. Sometimes I just have to hang in there until my inner guidance system realigns itself and has chosen a new way to go.

Daily Journal Page Challenge...Day 933: Elicits Twice the Passion
I do think that a "sunny" disposition (oranges = sunshine) elicits a greater positive response than let's say a gloomy gloomy or sour one!
