Featured Pendant: Ancestor Oriel

Today my grandmother, Mimi (Virginia Moremen Lindsay), came into my mind. I spent a lot of my childhood watching her do creative things: sculpting beautiful ceramic birds, and bowls; making and hand-smocking my dresses; creating beautiful Easter bonnets; designing and sewing quilts; painting with watercolors. She didn't teach me how to do any of those things. I was probably too squirmy and probably wanted to be outside with my ponies rather than indoors with pen and pad. I do have a beautiful white ceramic cat we sculpted together -- it sits in a treasured spot -- right on my bedside table. ), and it serves as a reminder of her artistic influence on me: an imprint of the desire to to and act of creating something beautiful. I made this pendant from a photo of her as a young woman. and gave it to my mother. It is photographed on a lovely crochet trivet cover -- made by my great-grandmother, Nana (Daisy Farmer Moremen).
