Building Paradise

This morning before breakfast, my husband and I took a walk along the beachfront, down past the town cemetary, the bed and breakfasts and abandoned homes, past the local fisherman gutting their early morning catch, past the trash filled slew...Am I painting a grim picture? Mexico, with all of its primative beauty is a culture stretched to the max. Poverty, hunger, and struggle blatantly coexist with color, beautiful scenery, and gorgeous weather. There is much to be grateful for, there is much to be saddened by. The tendency is to look away from the grimier stuff. But you really can't. To be fully alive you have to see it all. See it all and affirm the beauty. See it all and be grateful for what God has given you. See it all and affirm the choices one makes. See it all and live one percent more in the awareness that everything is as it should be, as paradise builds within you.
